WINES
The wines of Craggy Range reflect not only the character of the vineyard and the maker, but also the unique weather and cultural aspects of every vintage. No two vintages are the same – but while some are exceptional, others simply are not.
Whichever is the case, each and every vintage must stand on its own for quality, and that is why Craggy Range single vineyard wines will not all be made in some vintages.
Quality. The word is always quality, to the extent that parcels of wine from the same vineyard which may not for some reason make the grade, are declassified at assemblage, taking no part in the finished wine.
Sometimes the assemblage for one single vineyard wine is made up from over 60 parcels from the same vineyard. Parcels that for whatever reason have been fermented and matured separately by their winemaker. These reasons may be subtle variations of soil in the vineyard, new growing methods trialled by the viticulturists, an instinctive new winemaking method, or a barrel from a new cooper.
All create subtle variations on a theme, all create options, all preserve that magic goal…… Quality.
Craggy Range wines are presented in two collections; those of the Vineyard Designated Collection which are the easier to procure, and the limited Prestige Collection wines.
If the wine is to wear the Craggy Range label, with its livery of distinctive copper, purple and rich white, then it must do so proudly.
